2018-10-04: Jamaica's parliament has agreed to an extension of a state of emergency that has been in force since last month. It will apply to the Kingston Central, Kingston Western and St Andrew South Police Divisions in the capital Kingston until January 2019.

2018-09-10: Seven people, including two tourists from the United Kingdom, were injured in a knife attack at the Quai de la Loire in Paris on Sunday evening (09 September, local time). Four people were severely injured. A presumably Afghan national had attacked passers-by with an iron bar and a knife at 'MK2 Quai de Loire' cinema and on Rue Henri Noguères. The attacker was arrested. There are no indications of a terrorist motive, according to reports.

2018-08-07: A rise of violent gang crime is possible in Guatemala City in August, in connection to the 13th anniversary of a gang war between Barrio 18 and MS-13 on 15 August. Armed attacks against members of rival gangs as well as attacks against representatives of the government, judiciary and police are possible. Threats have already been made against judicial authorities. Violent incidents are possible at road blockades of the police as well as during identity checks and vehicle inspections.
2018-07-18: A 60-day state of emergency came into effect in the north-eastern province of Putumayo, in the border area with Colombia, on Monday (16 July). There are ongoing operations of Peruvian and Colombian security forces. Dozens of suspects were already arrested. Security authorities believe, that dissident groups of the FARC may increasingly focus on cross-border drug trafficking in the region, as well as kidnappings and hostage-taking for ransom.
2018-07-09: According to media reports from Monday (09 July), four inmates were shot dead and several people were injured during a prison breakout in Lae, around 300 kilometres north of Port Moresby, on Saturday (07 July). Nine inmates are still at large. The jailbreak took place at Buimo Prison, on the northern outskirts of Lae.
