2018-08-19: According to media reports from Sunday (19 August), there have been growing tensions in the town Pacaraima in Brazil, located on the border with Venezuela, between local residents and Venezuelan immigrants. The situation escalated on Saturday (18 August), when attacks on the immigrants occurred following a robbery of a local merchant. Several injuries have been reported. The government of Brazil has decided to send security forces to the border region on Monday (20 August).
