2020-09-25: On Friday (25 September), there are severe traffic restrictions in the Volta Region due to protests by the Homeland Study Group Foundation. Roads between Accra, Ho, Aveyime, Adidome, Mepe, Akuse, Sogakope and Aflao are blocked. The security situation on the ground is unclear. Clashes between activists and security forces are reported to have already occurred.
Heightened security measures are to be expected, local traffic disruptions are possible. Violent incidents cannot be ruled out. Travellers should avoid demonstrations and follow instructions by authorities.
