2016-11-22: Early on Tuesday morning (22 November, local time), a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the Japanese Prefecture of Fukushima, on the main island of Honshu. So far only small damages have been reported. Several people were also slightly injured. The authorities had issued a tsunami warning that was lifted.
Aftershocks are to be expected in the region, which can cause damages. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to avoid damaged buildings and bridges, and to follow instructions from local authorities. Local (air) traffic disruptions are to be expected, landslides are possible. Travellers are therefore advised to also exercise caution near mountainsides.
