Update 2020-01-10: The British foreign ministry (FCO) revised its travel advise for Iran on Friday (10 January) in connection to intelligence reports indicating that the crashed Ukrainian passenger aircraft had been hit by an Iranian surface-to-air missile on Wednesday (08 January). All travel to Iran is now advised against and travellers are also advised against travelling to by air to, from and within Iran. Travellers are also advised to consider leaving Iran. The German Federal Foreign Office continues to advise travellers to postpone non-essential travel to Iran, if possible. The Iranian government dismissed the reports of a potentially unintentional downing of the passenger aircraft.

2020-01-08: Increased political and military tensions between the USA and Iran are to be anticipated following Iranian attacks against military bases in Iraq on Wednesday (08 January) and a US missile strike against a convoy of the commander of the Iranian elite Quds Force on Friday (03 January).
Travellers are advised to inform themselves via local media and authorities about the current situation on site, to follow instructions from security forces, and to exercise high caution.
