2018-08-16: According to media reports there is a measle outbreak in the states of Amazonas and Roraima, close to the border of Venezuela. More than 1,200 persons are affected and at least 6 persons have died from the disease. The outbreak is not contained and likely to increase.
Travellers should avoid contact with visibly sick people and observe additional hygiene measures.

Measles: The virus disease is being transmitted from human to human. Symptoms of the disease occur after eight to ten days. The disease initially causes inflammations of the mucous membranes and conjunctiva, high fever, nausea, sore throat, and headache. The rash typical of measles occurs after two weeks.
