2017-03-22: According to reports from Tuesday (21 March), the US-government has issued new regulations covering the transportation of electronic devices on flights to the United States from ten airports. On direct flights from airports of the cities of Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Cairo, Amman, Casablanca, Kuwait City, Riyadh and Jeddah, passengers are prohibited from bringing electronic devices larger than a smart phone as a carry-on item. An exception can be made for devices that are medically necessary. The new ban will be in effect from Saturday (25 March) onwards, and also apply to stop-overs.
Heightened security measures at airports and delays due to security measures are to be expected. Travellers should contact their airline or tour operator prior to departure.
