Update 2017-08-15: According to current reports, at least seven people were killed in attacks on UN bases in Douentza and Timbuktu on Monday (14 August). Five Malian guards, a policeman and a civilian were killed. Further seven people were injured - a Malian guard and six UN soldiers. At least six attackers were killed.
2017-08-14: On Monday (14 August) gunmen attacked a UN base in central Mali injuring a UN peacekeeper and a Malian security force member in Douentza. Two of the attackers were killed in the attack.
Heightened security measures and local traffic disruptions are to be expected. Travellers should exercise heightened caution and follow instructions by local authorities.
