Update 2017-09-14: Tropical Storm Doksuri is forecast to gain strength and will make landfall in the central areas of the North Central Region (Bắc Trung Bộ) on Friday (15 September). The expected windspeed is 176 kmph (with gusts reaching 213 kmph), equivalent to a category 3 hurricane.
The typhoon can cause uprooting of trees and damage roofing material. A storm tide of up to 2.5 meter above average is possible. Due to heavy rainfalls and rise of water level, coastal flooding and local inland flooding (and landslides) can be expected. Inhabitants of coastal regions and low-lying areas are advised to take shelter.
2017-09-13: Tropical Storm Doksuri developed over the Philippine Sea, which is forecast to hit the northern coastal areas of Vietnam overnight Saturday (15/16 September, local time).
Heavy rainfalls are to be expected beforehand, which may cause floods, flash floods and landslides. Due to high winds, storm damage is possible in the areas directly affected by the tropical storm. (Air-)Traffic disruptions are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise elevated caution near mountainsides and rivers.
