2018-09-26: Typhoon Trami is forecast to strike the islands of the prefecture Okinawa from Saturday (29 September) on at about midnight (local time) as a category 3 hurricane.
Typhoon Trami is expected to bring maximum sustained winds of about 204 km/h; wind gusts could reach 250 km/h. Heavy rainfalls are expected to fall in/on the affected area.
The typhoon can cause major damage to building structures. A storm tide of up to 3.8 meter above average is possible. Residents living within 400 meters of the coastline are advised to take shelter against coastal floodings. Floods and landslides are to be expected in the affected areas. Power outages and water shortages are possible.
