2020-08-17: Tropical storm Genevieve has developed off the western coast of Mexico, which is forecast to hit the Revillagigedo Islands, including Socorro Island, on Wednesday (19 August).
Heavy rainfalls are to be expected beforehand, which may cause floods, flash floods and landslides. Due to very strong winds, extensive storm damage is possible in areas directly affected by the tropical storm. Disruptions to air and shipping traffic are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise high caution near mountainsides and rivers.
