Update 2019-06-11: Cyclone Vayu is forecast to hit the coastal areas of Gujarat on Thursday (13 June) as a category 2 hurricane. Cyclone Vayu is expected to bring maximum sustained winds of about 154 km/h; wind gusts could reach 194 km/h.
The cyclone can cause uprooting of trees and damage roofing material. A storm tide of up to 2.5 meter above average is possible. Due to heavy rainfalls and rise of water level, coastal flooding and local inland flooding (and landslides) can be expected. Inhabitants of coastal regions and low-lying areas are advised to take shelter.
2019-06-10: A tropical storm developed over the Arabian Sea, which is forecast to hit the coastal areas of Gujarat on Thursday (13 June).
Heavy rainfalls are to be expected beforehand, which may cause floods, flash floods and landslides. Due to high winds, storm damage is possible in the areas directly affected by the tropical storm. (Air-)Traffic disruptions are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise elevated caution near mountainsides and rivers.
