2018-05-22: In the Pakistani city of Karachi high temperatures of more than 40 degrees Celsius have killed more than 60 people. According to media reports, the heat wave may continue until Thursday (24 May), which could result in further deaths. On Monday (21 May), the temperatures reached 44 degrees Celsius. During a heat wave in 2015, approximately 2000 people died.
Travellers are advised to limit their outdoor activities, to drink sufficient amounts of liquids, and to wear light-coloured clothing made from cotton, as well as to avoid alcohol and high-fat food. There is also an increased risk of wildfires.
