2019-04-23: According to reports from Tuesday (23 April), landslides and mudslides have occurred in the city of Durban due to heavy rainfall. Several people lost their lives and multiple houses were destroyed or damaged. There are unconfirmed reports of further deaths in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The South African Meteorological Service warns of further rain at the south and east coast, which are expected to last until at least Wednesday (24 April).
Further floods, flash floods, and landslides are to be expected due to ongoing rainfalls. (Air) traffic disruptions are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise high caution near mountainsides and rivers.
