Update 2020-08-12: After further fighting between population groups in Port Sudan, the authorities imposed an absolute curfew, controlled by the military, from Wednesday (12 August). So far, at least 25 people have been killed and at least 87 injured in the riots.
2020-08-11: After at least 13 people have been killed and at least 42 injured in ethnic unrest in Port Sudan since Sunday (09 August), the authorities on Monday (10 August) introduced a night-time curfew in the city until further notice.
Heightened security measures are to be expected, local traffic disruptions are possible. Violent incidents cannot be ruled out. Travellers should avoid demonstrations and follow instructions by authorities.
