Update 2019-10-28: Floods also occurred in the neighbouring state of Nagaland. The cities of Dimapur and Phek were particularly affected. Three people lost their lives. A total of 17 villages and around 20,000 people were affected by floods.
2019-10-28: The last three days have seen continued rainfall in the south of the state of Assam in the north-east of the country. Multiple flash floods destroyed a bridge and flooded an important highway. Multiple trucks were washed away, but no deaths were reported.
Traffic disruptions are to be expected, floods and landslides are possible. Travellers should exercise heightened caution, especially near rivers and mountainslopes, and follow instructions by authorities.
