2018-06-28: On Wednesday (27 June), scientists working for the Alaska Volcano Observatory warned against a possible eruption of Mount Cleveland, in the south-western parts of Alaska. Trans-Pacific flights could be disrupted in case of an eruption in the remote area.

2018-06-04: The Fuego volcano, around 40 kilometres south-west of Guatemala City, erupted lava and volcanic ash on Sunday (03 June). Multiple people were killed and hundreds of others were injured. The departments of Chimaltenango, Escuintla, Sacatepéquez, and Guatemala were so far affected by eruptions of ash and rocks. Volcanic ash fall was also reported from parts of Gautemala City. A stream of lava affected the village of El Rodeo. Evacuations were initiated and the airport of Guatemala City was closed for the time being.
2018-06-01: According to reports from Friday (01 June), Merapi volcano, located near Yogyakarta in Central Java, has erupted. The ash cloud that was emitted rose to an altitude of approximately six kilometres. The Indonesian civil protection authority subsequently declared the highest alter level (red alert) for air traffic. Although flight operations initially continued normally, flight cancellations may occur due to the danger ash particles pose to flight safety.

2017-11-21: According to reports from Monday (20 November) volcanic activity has been observed at the Öræfajökull volcano in the Vatnajökull national park. Experts believe that an eruption is possible, however, not imminent. The alert level has been raised to yellow, and a so-called uncertainty phase has been declared, with the situation constantly monitored by Icelandic civil protection services, as well as the Iceland Meteorological office.

Update 2017-09-28: Due to a possible eruption at Mount Agung, over 122,000 people evacuated their homes in the surrounding area of the volcano so far. Dozens of volcanic earthquakes were recorded at the volcano. Mobile warning sirens were installed to warn the population in case of an eruption.

2017-04-25: According to reports from Tuesday (25 April) an evacuation order has been issued for the island Manam Motu in Papua New Guinea. The volcano, which is located on the island shows activity for several days now. Residents are moved to the close main island at the current time.

2017-03-16: On Thursday (16 March) multiple people were injured, according to reports also several tourists, in a minor outbreak of Mount Etna, which spewed stones and lava. The volcano had shown signs of activity since Tuesday (14 March).
