Update 2016-02-15: According to forecasts, tropical storm Winston in the Pacific Ocean is expected to move towards Fiji in the coming days. The storm could hit the southern Lau islands as a cyclone bringing wind speeds of up to 102 km/h, in gusts of up to 130 km/h (equivalent to a category 1 hurricane) starting Tuesday (16 February) and could develop into a cyclone bringing wind speeds of up to 157 km/h, in gusts of up to 194 km/h (equivalent to a category 2 hurricane) until Saturday (20 February). Heavy rain is already to be expected.
Update 2017-03-27 (2): The cyclone Debbie is making landfall between Townsville and Mackay, at the coast of Queensland, overnight Tuesday (27/28 March, local time). Wind speeds of more than 194 km/h are expected, in gusts of up to 241 km/h. Debbie is equivalent in strength to a category 3 hurricane. Successively, the storm is expected to move further inland and weaken. Local authorities have begun evacuating residents of the area.

Update 2016-10-07: According to reports from Thursday (06 October), damage in the Dominican Republic due to Hurricane Matthew is more severe than initially reported, with at least 3,000 homes damaged and 36,500 people evacuated. Several bridges have been destroyed and the water systems in several areas compromised, leading to a risk of a shortage of drinking water and a spread in water-borne diseases.

2016-09-01: Tropical storm Namtheun has developed in the Pacific Ocean and is forecast to hit the prefecture of Okinawa, in particular the islands of Kitadaitojima and Minamidaitojima, as a typhoon overnight Friday (01/02 September, local time). From Friday onwards (02 September), Namtheun is forecast to hit the Kagoshima prefecture.
