The Norwegian Meteorological Institute issued a warning because of a high risk of avalanches for Thursday (15 February). The warning is valid for the provinces Rogaland and Vest-Agder during the whole day.
Travellers should exercise heightened caution, especially near mountain slopes, and follow instructions by authorities.
Update 2017-01-19: According to the Italian Civil Protection Agency, at the time of the first of four powerful quakes there had been around 30 guests and staff at the Hotel Rigopiano in Farindola, in Pescara province of Abruzzo Region, on the eastern lower slopes of the Gran Sasso mountain. The hotel is located around 90 kilometres from the epicentre of the quakes on Wednesday morning (18 January, local time).
Travellers should exhibit caution, in particular at mountainslopes, and follow instructions by local authorities.
