2017-08-06: Severe weather and heavy rainfalls hit Grossarl Valley, south of St. Johann im Pongau, on Sunday (06 August). Several landslides were caused, the connecting street out of the valley was blocked. The village Grossarl was temporarily cut of from the outside world. The river Ache also overflowed it banks and partially flooded the village. There were no reports on any victims, but multiple people had to be evacuated by helicopters. Multiple people moved to emergency shelters, including many tourists.
Update 2018-09-05: According to reports from Wednesday (05 September), Typhoon Jebi killed at least 10 people and injured 300 others in western Japan. About 3,000 stranded passengers were evacuated by boat from flooded Kansai airport near Osaka and transferred to Kobe airport. It was still uncertain when the airport would reopen. Some roads and train lines in the affected areas were still closed. Jebi was described as the strongest typhoon in 25 years.
Update 2018-08-27: According to media reports on Monday (27 August), the floodwaters have receded. Residents can return to their houses, clearing work did start. Furthermore, it must be taken into consideration that Cochin International Airport will be closed until at least Wednesday (29 August) and delays in travel through the flooded areas are expected in the coming weeks.
2018-08-01: A tropical storm developed over the north-west Pacific, which is forecast to hit coastal areas surrounding Hangzhou Bay south of Shanghai on Thursday (02 August) and Friday (03 August). Particularly affected are the cities of Shanghai, Ningbo, Suzhou, and Nanjing, as well as neighbouring cities in the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Anhui.

Update 2018-07-02: The tropical storm gained strength and will hit north-western Kyushu with typhoon-strength winds on Tuesday (03 July). The maximum sustained windspeed is 120 kmph (with gusts reaching 148 kmph). Most affected are the Gotō Islands, west of Nagasaki, as well as Tsushima Island.
The typhoon can cause minor damage to building structures; a storm tide of up to 1.5 meter above average is possible. Due to heavy rainfalls and rise of water level, coastal flooding is possible.
2018-06-15: Tropical Storm Gaemi developed over the South China Sea, which is forecast to hit the prefecture of Okinawa on Friday (15 June).
Heavy rainfalls are to be expected beforehand, which may cause floods, flash floods and landslides. Due to high winds, storm damage is possible in the areas directly affected by the tropical storm. (Air-)Traffic disruptions are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise elevated caution near mountainsides and rivers.
Update 2018-06-07: According to the latest news from Thursday (07.06.), typhoon Ewiniar will make landfall off the coast of the Chinese province of Guangdong during the day. According to forecasts, the typhoon will then turn east towards Hong Kong.
Update 2018-05-28: On Sunday (27 May), thousands of people in Florida evacuated due to storm Alberto expected to make landfall on Monday (28 May). An area from Mississippi to western Georgia will be affected. After that, it will bring powerful winds and heavy rain as it moves into the Tennessee Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday (29 and 30 May). The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for an area stretching from Mississippi to North Carolina.
