2017-07-06: 24 truck drivers travelling in a convoy from Tanzania were kidnapped in Lulimba, in the eastern province of South Kivu, by local Mai-Mai militias on 29 June, according to a statement from the Tanzanian foreign ministry from Wednesday (05 July). 21 Tanzanian nationals and three Kenyans are among the victims. The convoy was on the way to the Namoya gold mine in Maniema province.
According to a statement from the Congolese army, multiple people were killed in clashes with Mai-Mai militias in the Misisi area of South Kivu.
2016-11-27: Six Pakistani workers of a Polish company were kidnapped on a road near the village of Drazinda, at Dera Ismail Khan, in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), by militants from their vehicle on Sunday afternoon (27 November, local time).
Heightened security measures are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise high caution and to follow instructions from security forces.
