2019-02-28: Yellow fever cases in the southern parts of the country have increased in comparison to the previous years since December 2018, according to a report from the Robert Koch Institute. The state of São Paolo is also affected. According to the report, tourist areas such as Porto Alegre and the region surrounding the Iguazu Falls could see an increase of yellow fever cases during this year's yellow fever season, which lasts from December until May.
Travellers are generally advised to take protective measures against mosquito bites including repellents, pale clothings covering the whole body and mosquito nets. Travellers are advised to see a doctor if symptoms appear. Health authorities also advise travellers to get a yellow fever vaccination.

Yellow fever: Transmitted by mosquitoes. Symptoms include high fever and general sickness symptoms, which subside after a few days. There are, however, cases in which the condition worsens after one week, including symptoms such as jaundice and internal bleedings, followed by heart-, circulatory-, liver- and kidney failure; in many cases these complications result in death.
