Update 2018-11-24: Demonstrations by members and supporters of the Islamist party TLP will already take place on Saturday (24 November), including in Islamabad. Demonstrations, violent clashes, and road blockades are also to be expected in Karachi, Lahore, and other parts of Punjab province. An Islamist cleric and leader of the TLP was arrested ahead of the protests.
Disruptions to cellular services and police checkpoints are also to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
2018-11-23: On Friday (23 November) US authorities issued a demonstration alert for Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday (25 November). Large demonstrations organised by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) are expected at Faizabad Intersection in Islamabad and Liaqat National Bagh in Rawalpindi from mid-morning until evening (local time).
Heightened security measures are to be expected, local traffic disruptions are possible. Travellers should avoid demonstrations as a precaution and follow instructions by authorities.
