2016-10-28: According to reports from Thursday (27 October) severe flooding due to heavy rainfall has killed at least seven people and caused infrastructural damage in the province of Morobe in Papua New Guinea. Landslides washed away homes and bridges, floods and debris blocked roads. Damage is also reported in the provincial capital of Lae.
Traffic disruptions due to landslides and floods are to be expected. Travellers should exhibit caution, in particular close to mountainslopes and riverbeds, and follow instructions by local authorities.
